March 29th, 2024. CRESTON, IA — Creston Arts brings another round of fun events at the Creston Arts Center and Depot Gallery.
Paint along with Melissa!
The ‘Paint along with Melissa!’ series continues next month with three classes at the Creston Arts Center. These classes will take place from 5 to 7 p.m., on Saturday, April 6th, 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, April 22nd, and 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 27th. Registration is required at www.crestonarts.com.
Art on Deck
"Art on Deck" is a multi-workshop event that will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 15th, and Thursday, April 18th. Each deck painted during our "Art on Deck" sessions will be on exhibition at Creston Arts Center in May. More details to come at www.crestonarts.com.
Other Workshops
Additional workshops at Creston Arts Center include a Needled Felted Succulents from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 13th; Decoupage for Beginners from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 23rd; Fabric Painting on Friday, April 19th (time TBD); Plastic Blagstics (Plarn making workshop) from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 20th. Poetry Events
This month’s poetry workshop is about writing Haikus. Participants are asked to bring their notebooks and pens from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 4th at the Creston Arts Center. This class is for adults 18 and older. Another Open Mic Night will occur on Thursday, April 11th at The Latest Edition Bookstore. Sign-up starts at 5:30 p.m. and the mic will be open from 6 to 7 p.m. This event is for all ages.
CCHS Senior Student Artwork
This month’s exhibit will showcase art from seniors in Independent Study I and II plus more from a variety of art classes from Creston Community High School. This work will be a collective of artwork from the entire 2023-24 school year. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 5th, at the Creston Arts Depot Gallery, 116 W. Adams St. Light refreshments will be served.
