February 2, 2024. CRESTON, IA —  Creston Arts is featuring life-size embroidery, new instructors, and a full month of activity at the Creston Arts Center and Depot Gallery in uptown Creston.

Paint along with Melissa!

Three paint classes taught by Melissa Raddatz will take place this month at the Creston Arts Center in a series called “Paint along with Melissa!” These classes will take place 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Saturdays 3rd, 10th, and 24th. Classes are capped at 25 participants with registration required at

Other Workshops

Additional workshops at Creston Arts Center include a Maker’s Night Workshop for “Folded Fabric Flowers” from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 8; Intro to Alcohol Ink with Dale O’Connell, 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 17.; and a beginning sewing class with Cindy Shelley, 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 18. More details at

Poetry Events

A free poetry and creative writing group guided by Micah McCutchan meets 6 to 8 p.m. every first Thursday at Creston Arts Center. This month, we welcome poets of all levels and ages to share their work (or a favorite published poem by another author) at Poetry Open Mic Night, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, February 16 at The Latest Edition Bookstore, 210 N. Maple Street. 

168 Hours by Jennifer Drinkwater

Artist Jennifer Drinkwater’s 168 Hours will be on display for the month of February at the Creston Arts Depot Gallery, 116 W Adams St. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. This show consists of life-sized embroidery versions of popular magazine covers from Time and People. More info at
